Automation & AI Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in District of Columbia, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Revitalize GMF and associated legacy workloads by transforming monolithic systems and batch processes into secure, cloud-native architectures that incorporate AI and automation.

• Design, create, and deploy solutions based on LLM and agentic AI utilizing technologies like LangChain, LangGraph, RAG, vector search, and AWS Bedrock agents.

• Automate intricate workflows and integrate solutions with IRS data sources.

• Apply best practices in platform engineering and MLOps/AIOps, including CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, model/prompt lifecycle management, and responsible AI controls.

• Work collaboratively with architects, developers, testers, and stakeholders to devise scalable and secure AI-driven modernization solutions.

• Merge legacy data sources into contemporary data platforms and AI-enabled services.

• Ensure adherence to security, privacy, and governance standards in a regulated federal financial setting.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related discipline.

• Capability to obtain and maintain a public trust requiring U.S. Citizenship or Green Card.

• Over 9 years of experience in software, ML, or data engineering, with a focus on application modernization.

• More than 4 years of experience in building and deploying AI/ML or LLM-based applications in a production environment.

• Strong expertise in modern application architectures (microservices, REST APIs, event-driven) along with legacy integration.

• Practical experience in developing agentic AI solutions using LLM frameworks such as LangChain and LangGraph.

• Proficient in Python and widely-used ML/NLP libraries such as Hugging Face, Transformers, scikit-learn, PyTorch/TensorFlow.

• Hands-on experience with AWS, including networking/IAM, Lambda, ECS/EKS, API Gateway, S3, DynamoDB, RDS, OpenSearch, SageMaker, and CloudWatch.

• Practical knowledge of using AWS Bedrock for LLM-powered applications and agents, including knowledge bases and guardrails.

• Experience with implementing RAG and working with vector search/databases.

• Familiarity with CI/CD and infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.

• Understanding of MLOps/AIOps tools such as MLflow or SageMaker and AI-focused observability.

• Strong SQL abilities and experience in integrating legacy data into modern platforms.

• Experienced with Docker and container orchestration platforms like Kubernetes or AWS ECS/EKS.

• Desired: Familiarity with Databricks, LangSmith or similar tools, CrewAI, AutoGen, Temporal, Model Context Protocol, BrainTrust, DeepEval, or comparable frameworks.
