This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Take ownership of automated civil construction solutions from the initial concept and requirements definition to development and deployment readiness.
• Convert civil engineering and field requirements into product, functional, and technical specifications.
• Establish product roadmaps, set priorities, determine milestones, identify dependencies, and define success metrics.
• Incorporate robotic equipment, automation technologies, software, and construction processes into scalable solutions.
• Identify capability gaps and work collaboratively with internal teams and external technology partners.
• Outline construction workflows, sequencing, equipment needs, and operational constraints.
• Facilitate automation in earthwork, excavation, grading, trenching, utilities, site preparation, and material handling.
• Assess autonomous and semi-autonomous equipment based on production rates, excavation depths, tolerances, capabilities, and site limitations.
• Collaborate with robotics, engineering, software, equipment, construction, and operations teams to ensure technical feasibility and constructability.
• Analyze the financial and operational viability of automation solutions.
• Develop ROI models, business cases, scenarios, and sensitivity analyses comparing automated versus conventional construction methods.
• Engage in business planning, budgeting, forecasting, and prioritizing investments.
• Set performance and acceptance criteria, and support pilots, field trials, and solution validation.
• Measure technical, operational, productivity, and financial performance to enhance solutions and validate ROI assumptions.
• Coordinate efforts among internal teams, equipment manufacturers, robotics companies, and technology partners throughout development and testing.
• Relay product status, business cases, investment needs, risks, and recommendations to leadership.
• Assess solution readiness for repeatable and scalable field deployment.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering.
• Over 7 years of experience in civil engineering, heavy civil construction, infrastructure, construction technology, automation, or a related field.
• Comprehensive understanding of civil construction methods, field operations, and construction sequencing.
• Experience in earthwork, excavation, grading, trenching, utilities, site preparation, and/or material handling.
• Proficient in translating construction requirements into technical and operational solution specifications.
• Experience in ROI analysis, financial modeling, cost-benefit analyses, business case development, budgeting, or other financial evaluations.
• Proven track record of leading complex, cross-functional technical initiatives.
• Strong analytical, business, communication, and problem-solving capabilities.
• Preferred experience in product management, technical product management, systems engineering, solution development, or technical program management.
• Preferred experience in construction automation, robotics, autonomous heavy equipment, industrial automation, or construction technology.
• Preferred experience in developing and implementing new technologies or integrated equipment solutions.
• Familiarity with autonomous excavators, dozers, graders, loaders, machine control, sensors, telematics, or related technologies is preferred.
• Preferred experience in material handling or automated material movement.
• Experience working with robotics firms, heavy equipment manufacturers, technology providers, or systems integrators is preferred.
• Professional Engineer (PE) licensure is a plus but not mandatory.
