This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Assess the assignment of ICD-10, CPT, and/or HCPCS codes by client coders for encounters in hospital inpatient, outpatient, and physician practice settings.
• Conduct intricate concurrent and retrospective medical record analyses to verify the accuracy of coded data.
• Examine results and pinpoint potential root causes of discrepancies.
• Compile audit summary reports with detailed supporting references for clients.
• Offer second-level process evaluations concerning legal, procedural, and coding compliance.
• Investigate, analyze, and address inquiries related to compliance, coding, and denials.
• Create and present coding education to clients as part of the Consulting Services Team.
• Execute assigned audits while adhering to productivity standards, aiming for an expected billable productivity rate of at least 80% when client work is accessible.
• Generate client deliverables within the scope and timelines of audits.
• Perform independent quality assurance of assigned audit outcomes prior to final QA submission, maintaining a minimum accuracy rate of 95%.
• Accurately and promptly report work hours and output.
• Engage and collaborate professionally with colleagues and clients.
• Provide management with organized work schedules, activities, events, locations, and any changes.
• Undertake additional assigned responsibilities.
• Valid credential from AHIMA or AAPC.
• Required experience with telecommuting and electronic medical record systems.
• Over 5 years of coding and/or auditing experience in an acute care facility or clinic, or equivalent experience.
• Exceptional analytical capabilities.
• Proficient in computer skills, especially with Microsoft Office applications.
• Capability to work with a diverse range of clients and projects.
• Ability to operate with minimal supervision.
• Competence in maintaining and accessing multiple files.
• High levels of accuracy and meticulous attention to detail.
• Ability to work at a computer terminal for 6–8 hours per day.
• Occasionally lift and move materials weighing up to 20 lbs.
• Commitment to maintaining professional credentials through ongoing education.
• Ability to safeguard patient and client information confidentiality while adhering to official coding guidelines, compliance standards, and the Standards of Ethical Coding.
• Willingness to travel periodically, as necessary.
