This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Thorough evaluation of new and transfer file assignments, accompanied by an initial assessment letter to claims.
• Summarizing discovery responses and medical records within 30 days of their receipt.
• Conducting and defending depositions of involved parties, lay witnesses, and expert witnesses.
• Completing deposition summaries within a 20-day timeframe.
• Performing legal research and preparing motions, oppositions, and replies; attending court for law and motion proceedings.
• Engaging in trial preparation, actual trial proceedings, and post-trial motions.
• Drafting pretrial documents, motions in limine and oppositions; managing all aspects of a jury trial, including trial motions and post-trial motions.
• Undertaking various additional tasks as needed to effectively defend the insured.
• A law degree and bar admission in the state(s) where practicing is required.
• At least 3 years of experience in insurance defense or a related field.
• Experience serving as the primary attorney in defense of personal injury lawsuits.
• Completion of 3 or more personal injury trials to verdict in insurance defense or comparable litigation experience.
• In-depth understanding of insurance, tort law, evidence, civil procedure, and trial practice.
• Strong communication, persuasion, and analytical skills are essential.
• Candidates must adhere to established company standards regarding personal driving history and current license status to qualify for the position.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and possess organizational skills essential for managing a caseload with exposures up to $150,000.
