Associate Video Producer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Assist in the planning, filming, and editing of video content across various formats, including social-first clips, explainers, and longer-form features.

• Collaborate with editorial teams to convert written science journalism into compelling visual narratives.

• Oversee pre-production logistics, which includes scheduling, creating shot lists, and coordinating with subjects and experts.

• Edit footage, motion graphics, and animations utilizing industry-standard editing software.

• Source and organize b-roll, archival footage, and licensed media.

• Provide support for live shoots, interviews, and remote productions as required.

• Stay informed about video trends across platforms (YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, etc.) and assist in adapting the content strategy as needed.

• Keep project files, footage archives, and production documentation well-organized.

⛳️ Requirements

• 1–3 years of experience in video production, editing, or a related field (internships included).

• Proficiency in editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro; familiarity with After Effects is a plus.

• A keen eye for visual storytelling and pacing.

• Basic skills in camera operation and lighting techniques.

• Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.

• A genuine interest in science, technology, and the ability to make complex ideas accessible.

• Strong collaborative skills and a willingness to accept feedback from editors and producers.

• A bachelor's degree in film, journalism, communications, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
