Associate Structural Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Develop safe and effective primary and secondary structural systems for industrial exhaust ducting.

• Provide support for power generation initiatives involving large-scale combustion turbines.

• Carry out member sizing using Load and Resistance Factor Design (LRFD) and/or Allowable Stress Design (ASD) methods in accordance with AISC 360.

• Execute bending, deflection, and stability assessments through static, wind, seismic, and thermal loading calculations.

• Create 3D structural models for ducting, internal liners, and supporting steel structures.

• Ensure compliance of designs with AISC 360, ASCE 7, AWS D1.1, and relevant international building regulations.

• Review fabrication drawings, respond to shop inquiries, and address material-related issues.

• Collaborate with pipe stress/mechanical engineers, project engineers/managers, and drafting teams.

• Compile structured calculation packages for client evaluation.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Structural Engineering.

• Expertise in STAAD.Pro or RISA-3D and AutoCAD.

• Fundamental understanding of high-temperature materials and thermal expansion phenomena.

• Prior experience with Autodesk® Inventor or comparable 3D mechanical design software is preferred.

• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) status is preferred.

• Basic grasp of thermal expansion principles in large lined and insulated ducting or plate structures.

• Experience with Finite Element Method (FEM) analysis and mesh modeling.

• Familiarity with standard industrial welding practices and fabrication limitations.

• Capability to interpret process drawings and P&IDs, as well as coordinate ducting layouts with process specifications.

• Expected travel should not exceed 5% of working time.

• Adherence to company attendance policies is required.
