This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Mexico.

📋 Description

• Establish and nurture relationships among the USDA Forest Service, NFF, and partners in New Mexico.

• Assist with on-the-ground restoration, recreational activities, and community engagement efforts.

• Contribute to programs, projects, funding, and teams within the Lincoln and Gila National Forests.

• Create scopes of work and budgets for various projects and programs throughout Southern New Mexico.

• Manage procurement, contracting, and grant processes.

• Supervise contractors, consultants, nonprofit organizations, and U.S. Forest Service implementation tasks.

• Ensure that projects align with USDA Forest Service criteria and fulfill final project evaluations.

• Directly oversee team members on the Southwest team.

• Support methodologies and metrics for measuring and communicating project benefits.

• Broaden support from private and public sectors through funding and partnership initiatives.

• Involve the public through community-focused conservation programs and outreach efforts.

• Track trends, issues, policies, and innovations in conservation programming.

• Act as the NFF's primary contact for conservation and development efforts in Southern New Mexico.

• Assist with a variety of NFF programs and short-term projects.

• Create materials for reports, newsletters, regional updates, social media, grants, and additional communications.

• Manage administrative tasks and monitor program and project budgets.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a field related to natural resources or equivalent experience.

• At least 5 years of experience demonstrating success in conservation programming and collaborative community conservation.

• Strong understanding and experience with USDA Forest Service policies, procedures, and regulations.

• Professional background in natural resource management, restoration, or program management.

• In-depth knowledge of New Mexico’s cultural history and natural resource challenges.

• Proven dedication to environmental issues.

• Must have authorization to work in the United States.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.

• Capability to collaboratively manage programs and assess outcomes against measurable success criteria.

• Ability to develop new donor relationships.

• Skill in prioritizing and managing multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.

• Flexibility to work within a team-oriented environment.

• Willingness and ability to travel frequently and work outdoors.

• Strong research and analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.

• Valid U.S. Driver’s License.

• Reliable internet connection and a dedicated workspace.
