Associate Merchant Risk Analyst

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Mexico.

📋 Description

• Proactively assess merchant applications by reviewing risk scores, products, and policies.

• Investigate activities of high-risk merchant accounts to mitigate losses from fraud and reputational threats.

• Facilitate communication and coordination among teams to enhance the merchant approval process.

• Develop and execute queries in MySQL to evaluate merchant data and performance indicators.

• Assess merchant reputational risk through customer NPS reviews.

• Act as a liaison between the Merchant Success and Support teams to address merchant risk-related concerns and provide insight into overall risk tolerance and policy.

• Enhance the existing merchant fraud detection framework to identify fraud more effectively.

• Conduct thorough analysis on optimizing and automating the merchant approval process, while challenging the status quo by collaborating and working independently on initiatives aimed at improving procedures, policies, and internal tools.

⛳️ Requirements

• A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.

• At least 1 year of experience in risk management, fraud, or financial crime prevention operations.

• Proficient in data analysis and capable of making significant decisions in a fast-paced and sometimes uncertain environment.

• Experience with MYSQL and PostgreSQL.

• Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

• Exceptional problem-solving and analytical abilities.

• Strong business acumen and communication skills.

• Capability to take initiative and work independently with minimal supervision post-training.

• Proven experience using Claude or similar large language model tools is necessary; candidates should be comfortable utilizing AI to improve productivity, research, and communication.

• The compensation range for this position is $1,800 - $2,000 USD GROSS monthly as a contractor.
