Associate Manager, State Arbitration Operations

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Lead and manage a team of four dispute resolution coordinators tasked with handling manual state arbitration and IDR claim submissions.

• Foster accountability, quality, and efficiency in daily production activities.

• Review and address communications from health plans.

• Assess settlement proposals and oversee negotiation timelines.

• Document workflows and set operational standards for the state arbitration initiative.

• Enhance the systems that support state arbitration operations.

• Assist in evaluating and operationalizing new state arbitration markets.

• Strive for pursue/not-pursue decisions across the broader state IDR roster, aiming for approximately 15 decisions within a 6-month timeframe.

• Provide guidance to dispute resolution coordinators as they manage case workflows.

• Ensure accurate tracking of disputes.

• Organize priorities, workflows, and team processes as the program evolves.

• Collaborate with teams in Product, Engineering, Finance, and Customer Success.

• Identify automation opportunities for the Product team while maintaining essential manual production tasks.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in healthcare operations, revenue cycle management (RCM), payer disputes, or arbitration workflows.

• Authentic, hands-on experience directly supervising a team as a people manager, including coaching, performance management, and workflow oversight for direct reports.

• Comfortable performing manual, hands-on production work as a fundamental aspect of the role.

• Experience in managing payer disputes, healthcare negotiations, or arbitration procedures.

• Strong analytical abilities and proficiency in Google Sheets / Excel.

• Familiarity with AI tools.

• Proven experience in managing structured operational processes, deadlines, and case-based work streams.

• Capability to bring clarity and organization to complex or evolving operational situations.

• Excellent written communication skills for negotiating or corresponding with health plans.

• Experience with state arbitration processes is advantageous, particularly in Texas, Ohio, or Georgia.

• Background in RCM organizations or provider groups dealing with payer disputes.

• Experience working with IDR under the No Surprises Act.

• Familiarity with Asana, Notion, or similar operational management tools.

• Experience in launching or operationalizing new programs or workflows.

• Must have authorization to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship.
