This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
β’ Release the function's pipeline of production tools β prioritized based on business impact as the discovery pipeline emerges.
β’ Collaborate directly with business stakeholders alongside the Solutions Lead β participate in discovery discussions, pose technical inquiries that reveal genuine constraints, and interpret your findings into appropriate solution formats. The Solutions Lead initiates the dialogue; the engineer provides the technical perspective that determines what gets built.
β’ Develop headless, API-first, and agent-callable tools by default β every tool is designed to be directly invoked by a human and programmatically by an AI agent as part of a broader workflow. Emphasize API-first design, structured input/output, and clear tool agreements.
β’ Engage in pair programming with an AI-assisted development environment (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot, or similar) β treat AI-assisted development as the standard mode of operation, not merely an enhancement. Consistent throughput is the foundational promise of this position.
β’ Contribute to a catalog of patterns that builds upon itself β document reusable patterns, tool agreements, and architectural choices so that each solution reduces the cost of the next one.
β’ Create internal tools for the function's operational needs β including, over time, a FinOps agent that tracks AI usage within the function and identifies cost-optimization opportunities.
β’ Engineer with a focus on token economics β model routing (Haiku for retrieval and classification, Sonnet for reasoning), prompt caching, output validation, and cost/retry discipline. Cost-aware code is quality code.
β’ Collaborate with Internal IT on the graduation pipeline β work closely with IT to solidify tools that have proven effective and ensure readiness for handoff when a tool transitions to production-grade managed infrastructure.
β’ Practice security-conscious AI engineering β manage secrets in Bitwarden, maintain environment hygiene, understand data exposure risks, and comply with internal security and AI Spend Finance policy controls.
β’ Document workflows, decisions, and reusable patterns to ensure that knowledge compounds across the Finance AI Transformation function rather than being retained by a single individual.
β’ Bachelorβs degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, or a related technical field, or equivalent demonstrated experience. Recent graduates are encouraged to apply.
β’ Proven experience utilizing Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot Workspace, or a similar AI-assisted development environment to build, release, or significantly contribute to a functioning application β not just casual chat-style usage of AI tools.
β’ Strong proficiency in Python, including data manipulation, API integration, and creating production-quality scripts.
β’ Familiarity with at least one additional programming language: TypeScript/JavaScript, Go, Java, or C#.
β’ Working knowledge of API design (REST, JSON I/O, structured output), version control (Git/GitHub), and fundamental CI/CD concepts.
β’ Awareness of token costs when utilizing LLM APIs β understanding prompt caching, model selection (Haiku vs. Sonnet vs. Opus), and basic optimization strategies.
β’ Security-conscious engineering practices β proper management of API keys and secrets, awareness of data exposure risks, and compliance with internal security protocols.
β’ Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the capacity to engage directly with non-technical business stakeholders, identify real constraints, ask clarifying questions, and translate findings into clear technical requirements β as well as documentation that another engineer (or an AI agent) can use later. While there is a dedicated Solutions Lead for discovery, the engineer is expected to actively participate in stakeholder discussions, not just receive specifications.
β’ A strong inclination towards releasing and fostering adoption rather than merely experimenting β a history of completing projects, including side projects, academic work, or internships.
β’ Unlimited Paid Days Off
β’ Three health plan options through Blue Cross Blue Shield
β’ 401k with company match
β’ Eligibility for dental, vision, short and long-term disability, life and AD&D coverage, and flexible spending accounts
β’ Paid Maternity Leave, Paternity Leave, and Sabbatical Leave
β’ Education Reimbursement, Student Loan Assistance or 529 College Funding
β’ Enhanced fertility coverage
β’ Wellness program
β’ Flexible work schedule
β’ Depending on location, the ability to utilize fitness centers
