• Oversee TuneIn's advertising technology contracting.
• Act as the main legal advisor on transactions related to advertising technology, encompassing programmatic and direct advertising agreements, as well as demand- and supply-side platform integrations.
• Recognize and address privacy, data protection, and regulatory challenges inherent in these agreements.
• Negotiate agreements for content licensing and distribution.
• Draft and negotiate contracts with content providers and platform distribution partners.
• Offer product legal guidance.
• Collaborate with Product and Engineering teams to provide advice on new functionalities, product launches, data management, and platform integrations.
• Identify legal and regulatory concerns early in the product development process and assist teams in creating compliant, user-friendly experiences.
• Support corporate governance matters.
• Manage routine corporate tasks.
• Provide assistance with additional general corporate requirements as they arise.
• Deliver employment law support.
• Help with employment-related issues, including offer letters, separation agreements, contractor arrangements, and workplace policies, collaborating with external counsel on more complex matters as necessary.
• Drive the commercial and legal strategy for significant transactions, advising on structure, risk distribution, and business objectives.
• Counsel business partners on deal structures, pricing strategies, data usage, intellectual property, and compliance matters.
• Create scalable legal frameworks and playbooks that enhance contracting efficiency and allow for speed without compromising quality.
• Develop and maintain templates, standard agreements, terms of service, policies, and internal guidelines to meet TuneIn's legal requirements.
• Function as a primary legal partner across the organization, collaborating with Sales, Ad Operations, Content, Business Development, Product, Engineering, Marketing, People, and Finance teams.
• Convert legal risks into practical business insights that facilitate decision-making.
• Assist in identifying and proactively mitigating legal risks throughout the organization, especially as TuneIn expands its advertising initiatives, content collaborations, and platform integrations.
• Remain informed about evolving privacy laws, trends in ad tech enforcement, and industry self-regulation frameworks.
• Improve operational efficiency by continuously enhancing contracting procedures, approval workflows, and deal lifecycle management.
• Develop internal training and guidance for commercial and cross-functional teams.
• J.D. degree from an accredited law school and an active license to practice law in the United States.
• Over 10 years of experience in both law firms and in-house roles, focusing on commercial and technology transactions.
• Strong preference for candidates with experience in ad tech or within an ad-supported media or technology organization.
• Demonstrated ability to lead intricate commercial transactions, including agreements related to advertising technology, content licensing, and distribution partnerships.
• Significant knowledge of data privacy and protection laws and regulations (e.g., CCPA/CPRA, GDPR, state privacy regulations) as they relate to advertising technology, audience data, and digital platforms.
• Experience in providing legal guidance to engineering and product teams regarding data practices, consumer-facing features, and regulatory compliance.
• Comfortable functioning as a generalist across various legal areas, including commercial, product, corporate, and employment law.
• Strong business insight, strategic thinking, and the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, capable of operating independently while translating legal advice into actionable business strategies.
• Proven success in managing multiple priorities under tight deadlines, with a flexible and open approach to tackling new or unfamiliar legal topics.
• Proactive, solutions-oriented mindset with sound judgment and high integrity.
• Previous experience managing legal professionals.
