Associate Faculty – Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Clinical Supervision and Residency

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona.

📋 Description

• Deliver course content, learning activities, and student assessments utilizing the University’s up-to-date course materials. Contribute additional insights and experiences to aid students in understanding and linking course concepts to real-world applications.

• Work efficiently and effectively to provide high-quality instruction to university students in line with the standards outlined in the University of Phoenix Faculty Handbook and all other relevant policies and procedures.

• Ensure all course materials are accessible to students promptly to encourage timely participation and relevant classroom instruction and discussions.

• Offer each student the chance to grow, develop, and attain academic success by maintaining an engaged classroom presence, responding promptly to student inquiries, and fostering a supportive learning environment that empowers students to build cognitive skills and confidence.

• Actively address student academic issues in accordance with University policies and guidance.

• Execute various additional responsibilities, such as coaching, tutoring, and identifying suitable supplementary resources, as determined by specific course or program requirements that enhance student learning and success both inside and outside the classroom; oversee student clinical/practicum/mentorship experiences as required by the course and/or program, as applicable.

• Attend various faculty meetings and University events as necessary, including but not limited to General Faculty Meetings, Content Area Meetings, and student graduations.

• Stay informed about all relevant University course updates, instructional standards, and other pertinent information that contributes to associate faculty effectiveness and student engagement and achievement.

• Maintain up-to-date professional and technical knowledge in content area(s) through employment, professional certification/licensure, attendance at/speaking engagements at professional conferences, professional publications, personal networks, professional organizations, and other viable means.

• Instruct and perform other job-related duties in an online environment, as dictated by program requirements.

• Understand all applicable University technology and adapt to technological changes as needed to facilitate classes and uphold active faculty status.

• Perform other duties as assigned or as necessary.

⛳️ Requirements

• Doctorate Degree in Counselor Education and Supervision.

• Two (2) years of relevant professional experience, some of which must have occurred within the last 5 years.

• Candidates must possess a minimum of 2 years' post-licensure experience.

• Candidates are required to demonstrate professional identity through additional service in professional organizations, published research, professional presentations, and/or other scholarly activities within the last 7 years.

• Five (5) years of relevant professional experience, some of which must have occurred within the last 7 years.

• Degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution.

• A current license as a Professional Counselor (LPC), Psychologist, or Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) is required.

• Acceptable professional experience may include, but is not limited to: post-secondary teaching in counseling, practitioner counseling experience in a clinical setting, and/or documented research or scholarship experience in counseling within the last 5 years.

• All faculty members must have one record of scholarship within the last five years that aligns with UOPX's definition of scholarship engagement. Faculty who do not currently meet this requirement may still qualify; however, they have one year from the date the content area is approved to comply with this Graduate Faculty Scholarship requirement to maintain content area approval.

• Familiarity with adult education teaching and learning theory.

• High level of problem-solving and decision-making ability to assess student work, address issues and concerns, and provide appropriate guidance.

• Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with diverse constituencies, including students, other faculty, staff, and external parties.

• Proficiency in technology, including Microsoft suite programs.

• Ability to convey a professional image and represent the University appropriately within the community and with external parties.
