Associate Director – Medical Science Liaison, Oncology, GI/Thoracic Focus

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois, +9 more states.

📋 Description

• Deliver comprehensive and innovative scientific and clinical information to experts in the field.

• Integrate the latest research on products, disease states, and standards of care related to assigned indications and therapeutic areas.

• Build credibility as a trustworthy source of unbiased, accurate, and up-to-date medical and scientific information.

• Assist healthcare professionals in disseminating evidence and addressing clinical care gaps to enhance patient outcomes.

• Link scientific and clinical experts with Lilly resources and internal business partners.

• Promote collaborative research opportunities.

• Collaborate with clinical development on studies and investigators to expedite pipeline and evidence generation.

• Provide disease-state and scientific information that aligns with site identification, selection, and recruitment.

• Evaluate customer data and prioritize engagement with assigned scientific and clinical experts through both in-person and virtual interactions.

• Implement strategic territory plans and utilize analytical tools for effective execution.

• Coordinate compliantly with Lilly field roles that share customers.

• Employ territory analytics for customer identification and routing prioritization.

• Synthesize and convey actionable customer and clinical insights to Lilly Medical and cross-functional teams.

• Develop internal networks and collaborate across functions with field-based colleagues.

• Contribute to team objectives and work cooperatively with peers and Lilly colleagues.

• Perform the role compliantly while adhering to governing regulations, procedures, and laws.

⛳️ Requirements

• An advanced degree in health sciences (e.g., PharmD, MD, PhD in a medically related field) is required.

• In addition to PharmD, MD, PhD, a minimum of two years of relevant clinical or therapeutic area experience is desired.

• A Master's or Bachelor's degree in health sciences (e.g., BSN, RPh, PA, NP) will be considered if accompanied by 5+ years of clinical, research, or industry experience in the relevant therapeutic area.

• Learning agility to understand and effectively communicate large volumes of complex scientific content clearly and concisely.

• Proven strategic and critical thinking skills to analyze, assess, and interpret information and its relevance to future outcomes.

• Advanced presentation and computer skills with proficiency in literature identification.

• Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities.

• Self-motivated and capable of working independently in the field while juggling multiple priorities and projects.

• Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills, including high emotional intelligence and the ability to build professional relationships and networks.

• Resilience in navigating complex challenges.

• Intellectual curiosity regarding the specialized field of science/medicine.

• Willingness and enthusiasm to utilize field-based tools and adapt to technological advancements.

• Applicants should reside within the Upper Midwest region: North/South Dakota, Minnesota, Northern Wisconsin, Missouri, Southern Illinois, Nebraska, Iowa, Kansas, or Oklahoma.

• Applicants should be located near a transport hub (airport/train station).

• Willingness to travel up to 80%, including commitments on weekends.

• Experience in a field-based working environment is highly valued.

• Familiarity with health systems, academic communities, medical research, and the medical education process is highly preferred.

• Knowledge and experience with digital platforms for virtual healthcare professional engagement are highly valued.

• Experience in the gastrointestinal and/or thoracic oncology therapeutic area is strongly preferred.
