Associate Director, Medical Affairs – Medical Scientific Liaison

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Propel the medical strategy within the designated territory through equitable, evidence-driven scientific dialogue.

• Present scientific and clinical information regarding disease states and Iovance products to both internal and external audiences.

• Identify, map, and profile external experts, investigators, advocacy stakeholders, and healthcare systems.

• Create territory engagement plans and maintain relationships with healthcare professionals and clinical investigators.

• Assist with publications, advisory boards, investigator-initiated research, and clinical trials as necessary.

• Gather, synthesize, and communicate medical insights from the field; pinpoint trends and contribute to discussions that turn insights into action.

• Offer scientific support for Medical Affairs activities and scientific sessions at major congresses and meetings.

• Organize and implement congress engagement with internal stakeholders.

• Foster cross-functional collaborations across Medical Affairs, Clinical Science, Clinical Operations, Market Access, and Commercial sectors.

• Utilize problem-solving and prioritization skills to address complex field challenges and propose medically aligned solutions.

• Provide informal leadership, onboarding assistance, best-practice sharing, peer mentoring, and capacity building.

• Operate in compliance with relevant laws, regulations, company policies, scientific exchange requirements, privacy standards, and adverse event reporting protocols.

• Uphold Iovance Biotherapeutics’ core values, policies, procedures, and ethical standards.

• Carry out miscellaneous duties as assigned.


⛳️ Requirements

• 8–12 years of pertinent experience in the biopharmaceutical/biotechnology industry, including 5–8 years in Medical Affairs and/or as an MSL with increasing responsibilities and independence.

• Advanced scientific degree (MD, PhD, PharmD).

• Proven skills in needs assessment, facilitation, prioritization, decision-making, collaboration, planning and organizing, execution, follow-up, and strong written and verbal communication.

• Competence in meeting management and operational tasks.

• Demonstrated ability to influence and align stakeholders within a matrix environment without direct authority.

• Capacity to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality work within established timelines.

• Ability to function effectively within a matrix organization to achieve desired results.

• Willingness and ability to travel up to 60% of the time within the designated territory.

• Capacity to travel, typically within the US; this is a field-based position with significant travel potential.

• Ability to remain stationary for extended periods, with or without reasonable accommodation.

• Ability to navigate within a home or office environment and carry typical work materials and equipment.

• Proficiency in reviewing and analyzing scientific/medical information and working on a computer for prolonged periods.

• Ability to perform repetitive hand/wrist motions associated with the use of computers and mobile devices.

• Capability to communicate and exchange information with internal and external stakeholders.

• Ability to exercise sound judgment, analyze and interpret data, solve problems, maintain confidentiality and discretion, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.

• Preferred: Experience as an MSL or in a relevant industry role with expertise in oncology/immuno-oncology and/or cellular therapy.

• Preferred: Familiarity with the designated territory and relevant external experts/healthcare systems.

• Preferred: Understanding of regulatory requirements for field-based personnel.

• Preferred: Demonstrated ability to deliver impactful and persuasive oral presentations.

• Preferred: Proven capability to coordinate efforts across diverse functions.

• Preferred: Experience in managing project budgets.
