This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Act as a vital operational collaborator with designated leaders of the Conservation Division
• Introduce enhanced operational systems, tools, and streamlined processes as the Conservation teams expand
• Ensure that conservation efforts are executed efficiently and adhere to organizational policies as well as relevant laws and regulations
• Collaborate with Finance and Grants Management to guarantee adherence to enterprise processes and systems
• Ensure invoicing, time and expense reporting, and grant reporting are conducted timely and accurately
• Monitor and manage team-level budgets while providing tools and reports for project and grant budget tracking
• Ensure compliance with donor restrictions for timely expenditure of grants
• Process grant extension requests as necessary
• Ensure appropriate allocation of staff time across available funding sources
• Assist in the development of budget proposals for grants alongside project managers and the Advancement team
• Review the tracking of donor gifts managed by the Advancement team
• Coordinate fundraising priorities based on identified budget shortfalls
• Ensure compliance with procurement and contracting procedures and regulations
• Identify work that necessitates additional legal review, consultation, or insurance coverage
• Guide team projects through the phases of approval and funding
• Ensure that organizational staff are informed and consulted regarding new initiatives
• Collaborate with Conservation team leaders and the Director of Operations, Conservation on emerging operational requirements
• Integrate Conservation teams with the centralized Business Strategy and Operations and Advancement divisions
• Associate or Bachelor’s degree is required
• 7+ years of experience in managing budgets, grants, and/or contracts with intricate compliance demands
• Experience in a nonprofit or mission-driven organization is preferred
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office: Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Proficiency in core enterprise software tools, including accounting and budgeting software, project management software, and/or CRM
• Must have legal authorization to work as an employee in the United States
• Ability to work in states where American Rivers can operate
