
Associate Director, Business Development – Power Transmission Systems

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Connecticut.
• Create and implement business development and growth strategies for Power Transmission Systems.
• Identify, shape, and secure opportunities for drive system products and technologies within rotorcraft and advanced vertical lift applications.
• Assist in the opportunity vetting and governance process for the Rome, NY site through the RLPM gated process.
• Maintain opportunity data and ensure pipeline visibility in Salesforce.
• Support site requirements, long-term planning, and forecasting initiatives.
• Formulate market and customer strategies based on customer needs, technology roadmaps, competitive dynamics, and future platform demands.
• Establish and nurture relationships with aerospace and defense OEMs, primes, government clients, and strategic partners.
• Lead early-stage opportunity shaping, customer engagement, capture strategy, competitive analysis, business case development, and major pursuit activities through proposal, negotiation, and contract award processes.
• Influence business and executive leadership regarding market strategy, customer engagement, competitive positioning, investment priorities, and pursuit decisions.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Program Management, Operations, Finance, Contracts, and other departments to create customer solutions and pursuit strategies.
• Identify and pursue U.S. Government-funded opportunities that support technology maturation, demonstration, qualification, and production readiness.
• Develop and manage the PTS new-business pipeline, providing leadership visibility into opportunity status and recommended actions.
• Assist with business development activities for Landing Gear and Wheels & Brakes as needed.
• Represent Collins Aerospace to customers, industry partners, government organizations, and at industry events and trade shows.
• Travel up to 30% for customer engagement, industry events, business development activities, and onsite requirements.
• Typically requires a University Degree and a minimum of 12 years of relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field with a minimum of 10 years of experience.
• Proven experience in aerospace and defense business development, capture, or strategic growth.
• Demonstrated success in developing and executing new-market growth strategies.
• U.S. citizenship is mandatory, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
• Preferred experience with rotorcraft, drive systems, transmissions, gearboxes, propulsion systems, mechanical power transmission, or related aerospace technologies.
• Familiarity with traditional rotorcraft, tiltrotor, advanced vertical lift, lift-fan, PTO shaft, or related drive system architectures is preferred.
• Experience in developing new aerospace and defense applications and shaping opportunities for emerging technologies is preferred.
• Knowledge of U.S. Government acquisition, contracting, and R&D processes is preferred.
• Established relationships with aerospace and defense OEMs, primes, rotorcraft manufacturers, propulsion system OEMs, or government clients are preferred.
• Preferred experience with aerospace Landing Gear, Wheels & Brakes, or related Landing Systems products.
