This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• The Associate Developer will play a key role in strategizing and executing business development initiatives from opportunity identification to completion;
• Assist in the identification and acquisition of renewable power customers and/or transactions, while managing a pipeline of potential prospects;
• Collaborate with Senior Management to pinpoint and cultivate business opportunities for acquiring or developing new power facilities in lucrative U.S. and/or international markets;
• Engage and coordinate with a dynamic, results-oriented multi-disciplinary team of internal Hanwha resources and external consultants to ensure the feasibility of identified projects through comprehensive analysis and effective project management;
• Participate in the due diligence processes for projects, as necessary;
• Act as a liaison between the project development and financial analysis teams to guarantee that deal structures, economic, and tax assumptions are thoroughly evaluated;
• Establish a detailed schedule for every task and milestone;
• Continuously monitor, manage milestones, and prepare regular progress reports;
• Create presentations for Senior Management as required;
• Build and sustain relationships with U.S. and/or international industry contacts, including key business and government customer relationships;
• Gather supporting data, including competitive intelligence regarding market opportunities for new projects;
• Stay updated on industry trends and competitor activities, such as regulatory/financial incentives, power pricing, and structured financing transactions;
• Develop project budgets and assist Management in completing budget reviews;
• Comprehend permitting requirements, negotiate and secure necessary development permits (including relevant environmental, local, state, and federal permits and waivers) for our solar projects;
• Focus on assembling, negotiating, and obtaining interconnection agreements with utilities that may be in diverse markets;
• Collaborate with various internal teams to negotiate contract terms (project finance, engineering, project management, procurement, and legal);
• Comply with all company policies, procedures, and business ethics codes; and
• Execute all other duties as assigned by the VP of Development.
• A minimum of 2 years of progressively responsible experience in the development of renewable energy, specifically solar PV power projects in the U.S., business development, project development, marketing, or similar roles.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Business, or a related field.
• Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time.
• Prior relevant experience in a commercial negotiation environment with strong commercial management, negotiation, and influencing skills.
• Experience in managing the solar energy development process.
• In-depth understanding of the renewable energy power market and its dynamics; ability to remain informed about evolving technologies, regulations, and trends, including building and maintaining robust relationships with off-takers and industry leaders.
• Proven track record of closing renewable energy deals.
• Must have a strategic vision and general management skills, along with entrepreneurial expertise gained through leadership roles in the solar and renewable energy sector.
• Exceptional prioritization, communication, and organizational skills; capable of quickly adapting to new tasks and circumstances.
