Associate Compliance Coding Auditor

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Perform routine coding and documentation audits as assigned, utilizing established audit methodologies, tools, templates, and standard operating procedures.

• Examine medical record documentation to ensure compliance with relevant CPT, ICD-10-CM, HCPCS, modifiers, and other necessary coding and documentation standards.

• Accurately record audit findings and the supporting rationale in MDaudit or other specified systems.

• Complete assigned audits in accordance with the established workflow, including finalization, communication, education handoff, and closure processes.

• Refer complex, ambiguous, or potentially high-risk coding and compliance issues to senior team members as appropriate.

• Gain expertise in compliance auditing through structured onboarding, mentoring, calibration, and quality review.

⛳️ Requirements

• 2–3 years of experience in healthcare coding.

• Possession of active coding credentials such as CPC, CCS, CCS-P, COC, RHIT, RHIA, or other equivalent nationally recognized coding certifications is mandatory.

• Experience in healthcare coding is essential; direct experience in compliance auditing is preferred.

• High school diploma is required.

• Basic understanding of CPT, ICD-10-CM, HCPCS, modifiers, and medical documentation standards.

• Familiarity with relevant federal and state regulations pertaining to healthcare documentation, coding, billing, and compliance.

• Ability to research, interpret, and apply authoritative coding and regulatory guidance.

• Knowledge of CMS documentation and coding requirements.

• Proven critical-thinking and problem-solving abilities.

• Capacity to exercise sound judgment and discretion when assessing documentation, coding, billing, and compliance issues.

• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team setting.

• Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail.

• Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications.

• Willingness to learn and effectively utilize MDaudit and other compliance, coding, and healthcare technology platforms.

• Experience with MDaudit or a similar healthcare compliance-auditing platform is preferred.

• Demonstrated commitment to enhancing and maintaining coding knowledge through continuing education, professional association involvement, or similar professional development activities.
