Associate Clinical Curation Scientist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Wisconsin.

📋 Description

• Interpret and categorize genetic variants in accordance with ACMG/AMP and ClinGen guidelines.

• Evaluate genetic evidence sourced from scientific literature, public databases, and clinical records.

• Identify, analyze, and document findings from literature regarding gene alterations linked to human genetic disorders.

• Analyze and interpret variants obtained from clinical samples.

• Collaborate effectively with laboratory geneticists and the Clinical Laboratory Director.

• Enhance the content and structure of clinical reports.

• Maintain the variant database at PreventionGenetics.

• Compile and prepare testing reports.

• Handle confidential information and independently resolve issues.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Human Genetics, Molecular Genetics, Genomics, Cancer Biology, Molecular Biology, or a related discipline.

• A minimum of 2 years of experience in genomic medicine data research, including familiarity with next-generation sequencing data and public databases, tools, and resources such as NCBI, EBI, UCSC, and IGV.

• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills to convey complex genetic information clearly.

• Adequate visual acuity for viewing computer screens.

• Capability to stand and/or sit for up to 50 minutes during each hour.

• Proven ability to perform essential duties with or without reasonable accommodation.

• Authorization to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship.

• Preferred: Master's degree in a relevant field.

• Preferred: Knowledge of DNA sequencing, encompassing whole genome and exome sequencing.

• Preferred: Familiarity with public databases, tools, and resources.
