Associate Actuary – Reinsurance Pricing

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Conduct pricing evaluations for intricate new and renewal reinsurance transactions.

• Collaborate with underwriters to create prompt and precise pricing analyses and suggestions.

• Review the work of fellow actuaries within the Reinsurance Pricing Team.

• Provide mentorship to analysts on the Reinsurance Pricing Team.

• Make well-informed actuarial recommendations grounded in professional judgment and experience.

• Spearhead the development, governance, and improvement of experience and exposure rating tools.

• Execute premium forecasting for the quarterly reserving and planning procedures.

• Facilitate portfolio management through the analysis of industry exposures and the correlation between UFG and industry outcomes.

• Collaborate with underwriting leadership to pinpoint portfolio opportunities, concentration risks, and product strategies.

• Offer technical guidance, contribute to pricing methodologies, tools, and best practices, and advise both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, or a related discipline.

• ACAS designation is highly preferred or nearing completion of ACAS with a proven ability to carry out work that necessitates advanced actuarial judgment.

• Over 6 years of experience in Commercial Insurance or Reinsurance pricing; experience in Reinsurance pricing is preferred.

• Robust technical skills.

• Proficiency in SQL, Python, and/or R is advantageous.

• Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities.

• Capability to convert mathematical models into strategic recommendations.

• Experience with pricing tools at a major reinsurance firm or brokerage.

• Familiarity with R, Python, SQL, and data visualization software is a plus.
