This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Oversee the Labor & Employment function for the designated region.
• Offer legal counsel on labor and employment laws to SGS operations in the US and Canada.
• Manage employment-related claims and litigation processes.
• Provide guidance on labor and employment issues pertaining to both US federal and state law.
• Analyze proposed and current legislation, draft legal documents, and evaluate company policies related to labor and employment.
• Consult with management on legal matters, ensuring compliance to safeguard the company from legal risks.
• Collaborate closely with Human Resources, internal business partners, and external law firms.
• Supervise Paralegals in delivering employment/labor-related assistance and responding to subpoenas.
• Execute additional duties as required.
• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
• Admission to the New Jersey bar or eligibility for the NJ In-house counsel license.
• 5 to 10 years of experience as a practicing attorney, ideally with a background in both private practice and in-house roles, focusing on US and Canadian labor and employment law.
• Licensed to practice law in New Jersey or at least one state within the United States.
