This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in District of Columbia, +1 more state.
• Engage in the selection of vendors and establish partnerships.
• Supply information to monitor inventory efficiency and analyze vendor profitability.
• Provide data and insights for price adjustments and assist with online price updates.
• Collaborate with Buyers, Associate Buyers, and brand partners to collect and verify order information.
• Manage revisions to buy sheets and address discrepancies.
• Supervise the creation and dispatch of purchase orders by offshore Merchandise Assistants to brand partners.
• Ensure prompt delivery and accuracy of order information.
• Facilitate communication between Merchandise Assistants and brand partners, resolving or escalating issues as needed.
• Offer allocation guidance to the Planning Allocation team and assist in managing allocations for high-touch categories like Designer.
• Communicate changes in receipt flow to the offshore team and maintain POs for correct shipping timelines, order quantities, and visibility of on-order items.
• Equip Buyers for Market by providing insights on historical performance, trends, and customer preferences.
• Organize market appointments and occasionally participate in NY market events.
• Aid Buyer style-out sessions by coordinating logistics and preparing insights for assortment presentations.
• Initiate strategic product assortments to enhance sales and brand development.
• Serve as the primary contact for execution queries and feedback from brand partners and internal teams.
• Analyze business performance with Assistant Planners and communicate detailed style insights to Buyers.
• Suggest in-season actions and assist in the preparation for monthly Open-To-Buy (OTB) meetings.
• Oversee markdown schedules and ensure offshore execution of price adjustments, RTVs, and associated activities.
• Collaborate with offshore reporting teams to create custom Buying reports and maintain reporting views along with delivery schedules.
• Effectively manages ambiguity, is a self-starter, and thrives in a fast-paced environment.
• Demonstrates strong accountability and the ability to multitask and prioritize independently.
• Quickly generates a variety of problem-solving approaches, including innovative ideas.
• Possesses strong interpersonal skills, being both direct and diplomatic, and quickly earns trust from others.
• Has a proven history of achieving positive outcomes through objectives and metrics in a large, complex organization.
• Open to new viewpoints and willing to explore different methods of working.
• Solid understanding of retail math concepts, including markup, margin planning, open to buy, and inventory productivity metrics (WOS, T/O, GMROI).
• Exhibits strong organizational abilities and attention to detail.
• Capable of effective communication both verbally and in writing.
• Proficient in computer skills including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Sheets, Google Docs, and Google Slides.
• Experienced in RFS, AMS, PCW, and NuOrder.
• 1–2 years of experience as an Assistant Buyer, preferably within a major department store.
