This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Zealand.
• Conduct comprehensive analyses of asbestos and uphold laboratory accreditations while following rigorous quality assurance protocols.
• Carry out bulk identification, asbestos analysis in soil (both P/A and S/Q), and fiber counting within the laboratory.
• Ensure that equipment and compliance systems are maintained in line with ISO standards.
• Consistently adhere to the requirements of ISO 17025.
• Provide assistance with technical and quality-related tasks as needed.
• Serve as a training mentor for internal team members.
• Engage in internal and external proficiency testing programs and ensure successful outcomes are achieved.
• Contribute to the ongoing enhancement of laboratory processes and procedures.
• Keep meticulous and detailed records of all analyses and tests conducted.
• Collaborate with colleagues to meet project timelines and uphold quality standards.
• Remain informed about the latest advancements in asbestos analysis methodologies and safety regulations.
• Tertiary qualification in Science or a related qualification/experience.
• At least two years of experience in asbestos analysis, covering bulk identification, fiber counting, and soil analysis.
• Proven understanding of ISO 17025 standards and their implementation in a laboratory environment.
• Competence in using standard office software, particularly MS Word and MS Excel.
• Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to maintain high accuracy in all tasks.
• Strong organizational skills and the capability to efficiently manage multiple responsibilities.
• Demonstrated ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively in a team setting.
• Dedication to fostering a safe working environment and complying with health and safety regulations.
• A desire to continuously enhance and upgrade professional skills and knowledge.
• Experience as a Key Technical Person (KTP) for asbestos analytical methods is highly preferred.
• Qualifications or experience as an asbestos consultant would be an advantage.
• Familiarity with relevant New Zealand health and safety regulations pertaining to asbestos handling and analysis.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
