📋 Description

• The Area Vice-President, Sales serves as a primary sales leader responsible for the launch of the NEXCHANGE KIT, Osteal’s leading investigational therapy for periprosthetic joint infection, which has been granted FDA Breakthrough Therapy, Fast Track, Orphan Drug, and Qualified Infectious Disease designations. This position involves building the regional Account Manager team, overseeing launch execution, fostering surgeon adoption, and translating national strategy into account-level initiatives.

• The AVP collaborates with Marketing, Market Access, Medical Affairs, and Training to create a cohesive go-to-market strategy and acts as the voice of the field in influencing commercial strategy.

• This role requires an entrepreneurial leader with prior experience in launch leadership, established credibility in orthopedics and the operating room, and the determination to achieve results in a dynamic, pre-commercial environment. As Osteal expands its commercial organization, this leader will have the chance to influence the future structure of the field, including the recruitment and development of District Managers, with potential for advancement into broader second-line leadership roles over time.


⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent is required, with an advanced degree preferred.

• At least 8 years of commercial experience in selling medical devices, biologics, or specialty pharmaceuticals within hospitals and surgical environments, with a proven track record of meeting quotas.

• A minimum of 3 years of first-line sales leadership experience managing W-2 sales representatives directly in a direct sales model. Experience limited to managing independent distributors, 1099 representatives, or third-party channel partners does not fulfill this requirement.

• Demonstrated leadership in product launches as a first-line manager during a new product introduction (covering pre-launch readiness through the initial 24 months of commercialization), ideally within a pre-commercial or early commercial-stage company.

• Prior experience in orthopedic and operating room sales is highly preferred, including established relationships with orthopedic surgeons, infectious disease specialists, and hospital decision-makers (e.g., Pharmacy & Therapeutics & Value Analysis Committees).

• Outstanding capability to convert complex scientific data into actionable clinical insights that establish trust with surgeons, pharmacists, and infectious disease specialists.

• Proven ability to juggle multiple priorities and excel in a fast-paced, evolving organization.

• Possess strong analytical skills, capable of developing, implementing, and adapting complex regional, territory, and account-level plans in changing environments.

• Demonstrated success in launching specialty products, preferably within rare diseases, orthopedics, infectious diseases, or other complex, hospital-based therapeutic areas.

• A high degree of adaptability and resilience, with the capacity to operate effectively amidst uncertainty, quickly reprioritize, and drive progress in a fast-paced, pre-commercial or startup environment.

• ***Location Requirements***

• Candidates must be based in the US and reside **West of the Mississippi River**.

• Up to 75% travel is required.
