Archaeology Field Technician

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona.

📋 Description

• Performing archaeological pedestrian surveys.

• Collecting archaeological data, including GPS coordinates, photographs, site forms, site sketches, and artifact sketches.

• Conducting subsurface testing or identifying artifacts.

• Measuring and thoroughly documenting artifacts.

• Creating high-quality field notes.

• Collaborating with team members or working independently as the job requires.

• Executing additional duties as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's Degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, or a related discipline.

• A minimum of 6 months of experience in archaeological fieldwork or completion of field school.

• Proficiency in conducting archaeological surveys and excavations.

• Capability to work in varied and often challenging terrains, which may involve hiking distances of up to 5 to 10 miles daily.

• Strong verbal and written communication abilities.

• A proven ability to collaborate effectively with others and contribute proactively to a project team.

• Exceptional attention to detail and skills in detailed note-taking.

• Possession of a valid driver's license.

• Preferably skilled in operating GPS units and navigating using USGS maps, aerial photography, and a compass.

• Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions.

• Understanding and adherence to company safety standards is essential.

• Access to a laptop or computer for completing timesheets, expense reports, and other office tasks.

• Ability to occasionally lift and transport materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.

• Successful completion of fit for work testing, which includes Drug & Alcohol testing, will be required for this role.

🏝️ Benefits

• Per Diem is typically set at a GSA rate and varies based on the location of the fieldwork, generally not falling below $50 per day.

• Sundance covers hotel or lodging expenses, which are separate from the per diem.
