This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona, +1 more state.
• Oversee the cultural resource management strategy throughout the entire project lifecycle to ensure compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA), including preliminary routing/siting, CEQA/NEPA analysis, and construction compliance.
• Act as the primary contact for clients and a liaison with agencies to effectively propel projects forward.
• Prepare, submit, and monitor archaeological investigations; conduct records reviews, archival and ethnographic research; manage field surveys, testing, data recoveries/mitigations, and the associated technical report writing; as well as facilitate agency and Tribal consultations related to these activities.
• Utilize a thorough understanding of CEQA and NEPA in relation to cultural resources to pinpoint potential project risks and negotiate intricate mitigation strategies with agencies and stakeholders.
• Supervise GAI technical staff and field teams on cultural resources tasks, while managing budgets, schedules, and Quality Assurance/Quality Control processes.
• Drive business development by identifying opportunities, crafting proposal strategies and writings, participating in interviews, and supporting account growth across diverse markets.
• Mentor and provide training to junior and mid-level cultural resources personnel.
• A Master’s or doctorate degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, or a closely related field.
• At least 10 years of experience in cultural resources studies with demonstrated expertise in environmental impact analysis, siting/routing studies, CEQA/NEPA documentation, and coordination with agencies (such as BLM, US Army Corps of Engineers, Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, etc.) and Tribal entities.
• Strong project management abilities with a proven record of managing and delivering multiple complex cultural resource projects across various developmental phases and geographic areas on schedule and within budget using both in-house and subconsultant teams.
• Exceptional writing skills with a verified ability to author, manage, and review technical reports that support federal, state, and local regulatory compliance documentation.
• Advanced knowledge of the multi-disciplinary aspects within the cultural resource field, including history, archaeology, historic architecture, ethnography, and archives.
• In-depth understanding and proficiency in federal and state cultural resource laws and regulations, including the NHPA and the Archaeological Resources Protection Act, CEQA, and NEPA.
• Proven track record in business development that leads to sales generation and the establishment of new client relationships within an environmental consulting context.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office suite applications (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
• Willingness to travel (up to 25%) to project sites, GAI office locations, business development events/conferences, and stakeholder and client meetings as necessary.
