This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Identify high-impact opportunities for the application of AI, ML, and DL within Photonic’s technical workflows, emphasizing research, development, and engineering.
• Guide engineers through the processes of design, prototyping, development, and deployment of AI-enhanced tools that facilitate quantum and other technical workflows.
• Assess AI initiatives based on their technical feasibility, business value, potential for adoption, and associated risks.
• Establish evaluation methodologies and benchmarks to determine the accuracy, utility, and trustworthiness of AI solutions in production environments.
• Collaborate with scientists, engineers, and technical leaders to identify complex challenges and ascertain where AI, ML, and DL can significantly enhance outcomes.
• Incorporate AI capabilities into existing software platforms, engineering workflows, and technical procedures as appropriate.
• Clearly communicate technical opportunities, trade-offs, risks, and outcomes to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Contribute to the development of AI standards, governance, and safe usage practices in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
• Mentor teams in the effective application of AI methods, tools, and workflows.
• Graduate degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Physics with a specialization in AI, ML, or DL, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Profound understanding of contemporary neural network architectures and model families, including when each is suitable for various problem classes.
• Over 5 years of experience in developing, enhancing, and deploying AI/ML/DL models in scientific computing, advanced engineering, semiconductor, quantum, or comparable technical fields.
• Experience in utilizing AI/ML/DL models for optimization, search, simulation-driven workflows, or design space exploration (DSE).
• Knowledge of secure enterprise AI deployment, model assessment, and AI governance.
• Strong software engineering background with experience in designing and delivering production-quality systems.
• Proven ability to function effectively in ambiguous, research-intensive, or technically complex environments.
• Excellent communication skills, including the capacity to articulate complex technical concepts to senior technical personnel.
• Exceptional collaboration skills and the ability to establish credibility across diverse technical teams.
• Preferred: experience in any of the following areas: group algebra, group theory, graph theory, representation theory, quantum error correction, or quantum compiling.
