Applied AI Engineer – Agent Intelligence, Retrieval

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Create, develop, and deploy new functionalities for Littlebird, an AI companion for Mac and Android.

• Enhance the hybrid search pipeline to accommodate customer expansion.

• Refine retrieval processes for broad queries through analysis, decomposition, and various retrieval strategies.

• Test and implement re-ranking models to alleviate latency issues.

• Improve ranking by integrating both sparse and dense retrieval signals.

• Design and evaluate context pruning and summarization methods.

• Advance the agent's multi-step reasoning and tool-calling capabilities.

• Develop structured prompt-level contexts to minimize hallucinations and enhance reasoning.

• Troubleshoot agent failures related to tool calls, context retrieval, and LLM responses.

• Work collaboratively within a small, asynchronous-first engineering team and engage in infrastructure decision-making.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proficient OOP programming skills and prior experience in developing production software using Python, TypeScript, or C++.

• Strong, intuitive grasp of information retrieval and contemporary RAG pipelines.

• Experience in constructing information retrieval and RAG pipelines from the ground up.

• Practical experience with vector databases, hybrid search, and re-ranking models.

• Experimental and data-driven mindset, including conducting A/B tests, evaluating metrics, and rapid iteration.

• Practical approach centered on delivering measurable enhancements to AI quality.
