
Applications Engineering Manager – West Coast

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Oversee and nurture a team of Applications Engineers throughout the designated territory
• Take ownership of capacity planning and the allocation of workloads
• Establish technical and cultural benchmarks for the team
• Conduct regular one-on-one meetings, performance evaluations, and development planning sessions
• Manage the applications engineering function from pre-sales proof of concept support to post-install customer satisfaction
• Act as the senior technical escalation point for intricate integrations, challenging customer situations, and problematic installations
• Collaborate with the Regional Sales Manager on territory priorities, pipeline management, and customer strategy
• Sustain relationships with key customer accounts
• Design solutions, evaluate integrations, commission cells, and assist with installations
• Lead or co-lead technically complex or strategically significant customer engagements
• Review and approve solution designs, proof of concepts, and integration plans
• Travel to customer locations for escalations, important installations, and to strengthen customer relationships
• Establish and uphold standards for documentation, handoffs, commissioning checklists, and customer training
• Share territory-level insights with applications engineering, product, and engineering teams
• Assist in creating playbooks, templates, and training resources
• Proficiency in mechanical, electrical, and software domains
• Experience with PLC programming and ladder logic
• Understanding of pneumatics and DC power systems
• Background in robot programming
• Familiarity with Python scripting
• Competence in CAD software
• Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in applications engineering, systems integration, or automation engineering
• At least 2 years of experience in people management or as a team leader
• Strong presence in customer-facing situations
• Experience managing a distributed team or territory
• Willingness to travel domestically up to 25%
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or a related engineering field, or equivalent practical experience
• Preferred experience with collaborative robots such as UR, Fanuc, KUKA, ABB, or similar
• Preferred experience in scaling an applications engineering or field engineering function
• Preferred experience with vision systems, force/torque sensing, or custom end-of-arm tooling
• Preferred familiarity with machine tending, palletizing, welding, or assembly automation applications
• Must reside on the West Coast
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without requiring visa sponsorship or transfer
