Applications Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York, +4 more states.

📋 Description

• Comprehend technical processes related to specific industrial gas applications and possess the capability to diagnose and formulate a value proposition using Airgas solutions and equipment tailored to these applications.

• Key applications include inerting, industrial cryogenics, and wastewater treatment within the refining, pulp & paper, and chemicals sectors.

• Provide proactive technical sales support and business development to Airgas' 16 Regional Companies sales teams, leveraging individual process knowledge, industry experience, and application expertise.

• Collaborate with local sales teams to identify leads through business development strategies and prepare as well as deliver technical and value-oriented proposals to Airgas prospects and customers.

• The individual will engage in all facets of customer relationships, from initial contact and problem identification to application/equipment selection, data analysis, equipment/system development and proposal, equipment specification/manufacturing, start-up, and long-term customer support and application marketing.

• Identify and develop new products/applications.

• Interact internally with regional account managers, bulk gas specialists, equipment engineers, and marketing, while also engaging externally with customers and equipment vendors.

• Familiarity with a broad range of standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the industry and related applications.

• Possess extensive knowledge of gas properties and thermodynamics.

• Depend on substantial experience and judgment to achieve objectives.

• Develop training materials and conduct training sessions for both internal and external customers.

• Enjoy a significant degree of creativity and flexibility based on experience.

• May assist in the development, oversight, and training of Equipment Engineers and Applications Engineers.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering.

• 3 to 10 years of experience in applications engineering or direct industry experience.

• Ability to travel domestically up to approximately 50% (including overnight stays as necessary).

• Willingness and ability to work weekends and/or holidays as required to meet project timelines, equipment commissioning, and ongoing customer support.
