Applications Developer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Michigan.

📋 Description

• Act as a team leader or a technical member in the planning, design, development, implementation, and/or support of moderately complex processes, systems, networks, or segments of extensive or intricate systems.

• Ensure that assigned deliverables are completed punctually and meet the required quality standards.

• Aim to achieve service level objectives consistently.

• Create system specifications, prototypes, and documentation, which includes structure charts, screen designs, data flow diagrams, file layouts, report layouts, and job run descriptions.

• Collaborate with the Security team to develop audit controls and procedures to maintain the integrity and protection of company resources.

• Define functional system requirements to meet business needs effectively.

• Work schedule is Monday to Friday, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

• Participate in occasional travel for meetings, collaborative events, or team-building activities as directed by leadership.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.

• Experience in designing, developing, implementing, or supporting moderately complex information systems or intricate maintenance projects.

• Proficiency in building or supporting mainframe, distributed, or web-based systems.

• Skills in structured systems analysis, design, programming, and testing.

• Ability to identify, analyze, and resolve business and technical issues.

• Experience in monitoring tasks, documenting progress, adapting to project changes, and adhering to deadlines.

• User interaction and facilitation skills.

• Expertise in mainframe, distributed, and/or web-based system design and development.

• Familiarity with database management systems such as IMS DB, DB2, SQL Server, and Oracle.

• Understanding of PC fundamentals, including MS Office.

• Proficiency in programming languages such as COBOL II, Java, JavaScript, JSP, HTML, and XML.

• Knowledge of online communication technologies, including IMS DC and CICS.

• Experience with system development tools such as Endevor, IMS Expert, Xpediter, SQA Team Test, VisualAge for Java, WebSphere Studio, IBM Jade, and Eclipse.

• Familiarity with operating systems including MVS, Windows, and UNIX.

• Skills in database design.

• Understanding of local area networks and network communications.

• Knowledge of systems operations practices, security and control procedures, and systems development methodologies.

• Capability to evaluate moderately complex systems and comprehend interdependencies among components.

• Ability to lead teams within a matrix organization.

• Preferred: Knowledge of development methodologies, JAD/RAD techniques, and database modeling.
