Application Support Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Deliver expert-level remote management, administration, and support for both production and demonstration trading exchange environments.

• Carry out and oversee daily operational tasks, which include contract scheduling, settlement of expired contracts, and managing end-of-day/start-of-day procedures.

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and facilitate the resolution of production incidents.

• Adhere to escalation protocols and participate in root cause analysis and post-incident evaluations.

• Observe application and system performance, identify bottlenecks, and execute tuning recommendations.

• Assist with version upgrades, deployments, and release validation alongside Development and QA teams.

• Maintain runbooks, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and operational documentation.

• Ensure smooth shift transitions with clear communication of status.

• Explore, implement, and utilize tools and scripts to automate and enhance operational workflows.

• Collaborate with Development, QA, Infrastructure, and partner teams on cross-functional issues and critical business initiatives.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience managing or supporting mission-critical production software applications.

• Strong understanding of Linux server operating systems.

• Proficient in Bash and/or Python scripting and automation.

• Hands-on experience with SQL and relational databases.

• Proven skills in incident management and technical troubleshooting.

• Comprehensive knowledge of escalation procedures and SLA-driven environments.

• Exceptional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication abilities.

• Strong attention to detail coupled with a proactive, ownership-oriented mindset.

• Availability to work in a 24/7 rotational shift model, including nights and weekends.

• Preferred: Experience in financial services, fintech, or regulated exchange environments.

• Preferred: Knowledge or experience in options and futures trading markets.

• Preferred: Familiarity with FIX protocol and trading system applications.

• Preferred: Experience with monitoring tools like Grafana, Zabbix, Splunk, and LogicMonitor.

• Preferred: Experience with Kafka, AMQ, and Tomcat messaging or middleware systems.

• Preferred: Understanding of high-availability systems and clusters.

• Preferred: Hands-on experience with AWS, including EC2, CloudWatch, and S3.

• Preferred: Knowledge of change and release management processes.

• Preferred: Familiarity with SFTP/file-transfer workflows and monitoring.
