This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.
• Design the On-Device Storage & Ingest Layer: Define and refine storage mechanisms (such as columnar layouts, compression methods, downsampling pyramids, and time-bucket indexes) along with the ingest layer (including streaming and iterator-based parsing of substantial data volumes in Dart, while avoiding full-file slurps, and utilizing FFI to native code where beneficial).
• Implement Calculation Kernels: Develop processing capabilities for event detection (such as sags, swells, and transients), perform analytical calculations, and create standards-compliant aggregations (e.g., IEC 61000-4-x) while selecting appropriate numerics to ensure stability across extended aggregation intervals.
• Plan for Schema Evolution & Cloud Synchronization: Design forward- and backward-compatible migrations, ensuring customer files from the first year can still be accessed after five years, implementing partial sync, vector clocks, and conflict surfaces in close coordination with the Lead Architect.
• Operate What You Deploy: Participate in an on-call rotation for data-plane incidents, lead postmortems on ingest or query regressions, and convert each incident into a permanent test or performance benchmark.
• Validate Against Reference Vectors: Collaborate with a PQ analyst to establish golden test vectors, prototype in Python/NumPy, and confirm that production Dart/Rust kernels meet the required precision.
• Time-Series Data Structures: Strong computer science fundamentals in columnar layouts, compression techniques, downsampling, and time-bucket indexing.
• Streaming Ingest with Memory Management: Proven experience parsing large binary or text files in chunks without loading them entirely into memory. Proficient with mmap, paged readers, and isolate-based pipelines.
• Applied Mathematics Implementation: Proficient in at least one of Dart, C, C++, or Rust; skilled at connecting kernels across FFI boundaries for complex numbers, Fourier analysis, Hilbert transforms, etc.
• Data Integrity as a Core Value: You view the silent loss of a sample as a critical issue—no exceptions.
• Domain Humility: Eager to learn the underlying physics before optimizing data handling; comfortable collaborating closely with a PQ analyst.
• Benchmark-First Mindset: You prioritize measurement before tuning and prefer to write the harness yourself.
• Desirable (but not essential): Experience with large data volumes utilizing Apache Arrow, Parquet, or FlatBuffers, particularly with Dart FFI bindings.
• Previous exposure to measurement, instrumentation, scientific software, or power-quality standards.
• Proficiency in Python/NumPy/SciPy for prototyping and reference computations.
• Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, applied mathematics, or a related field.
• Founding Influence: Play a key role in shaping the technical direction of a product that will define a category for the next decade.
• Specialist Team: Collaborate with a dedicated power-quality analyst, visualization engineer, and hardware product teams.
• Real Engineering Culture: Engage with ADRs, performance budgets, and reference test vectors as essential artifacts.
• Made-in-Germany Quality: Benefit from decades of measurement-instrument heritage backed by a customer base that recognizes accuracy in data.
