This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Act as a technical consultant for both internal and external stakeholders to guarantee precise specifications and flawless designs.
• Keep up-to-date files on industry standards, including ANSI, IEEE, ABS, USCG, DNV, NEMA, and IEC.
• Work alongside account managers and internal teams to establish the technical scope for tested product offerings.
• Engage in RFQ and specification evaluations to pinpoint technical risks, material limitations, and potential schedule effects.
• Create, document, and present value-engineered solutions derived from drawings, specifications, and customer needs.
• Assess project quotation packages and sales quotation letters for technical precision.
• Generate and review initial datasheets, finalizing project datasheets prior to the design initiation.
• Liaise with United Laboratories concerning product offerings and testing prerequisites.
• Assist R&D products that necessitate type testing of new equipment.
• Take part in design reviews for customer submittal drawings and UL label relevance.
• Serve as a technical intermediary between customers, engineering, estimating, and operations.
• Analyze design implications on manufacturability, serviceability, and field support.
• Contribute to the development, maintenance, and enhancement of standardized engineering processes, tools, and guidelines.
• Complete special projects as assigned by the supervisor.
• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or a related discipline is preferred.
• Professional Engineer (PE) License is preferred.
• Over 5 years of experience in electrical power systems applications up to 38 kV in Marine, Heavy Industrial, or Oil & Gas sectors.
• Familiarity with switchgear.
• Experience with motor control centers (MCCs).
• Background in generators and motors.
• Knowledge of power factor correction.
• Understanding of circuit breakers, fuses, and reclosers.
• Experience with transformers.
• Familiarity with protective relays and protection schemes.
• Expertise in UPS and battery systems.
• Experience with variable frequency drives (VFDs).
• Background in automation systems including SCADA, DCS, HMI, and IEDs.
• Solid understanding of NEC, NFPA 70E, NEMA, IEEE, IEC, UL/CSA, ABS, ANSI C37.1, and ANSI C37.2.
• Strong practical knowledge of electrical power systems engineering, design tools, and production processes.
• Ability to independently identify, analyze, and resolve technical challenges while adhering to procedures and ethical standards.
• Insight into materials, production methods, quality control, and cost factors.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Familiarity with project management, Salesforce CRM, and ERP/accounting systems.
• Advanced verbal and written communication capabilities.
• Ability to interpret technical and regulatory documents and convey complex information to customers and senior leadership.
• Advanced mathematical skills, including statistical and algebraic problem-solving.
