Application Engineer, Administrator

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Belgium, +1 more country.

📋 Description

• Install, configure, and manage applications in both production and non-production environments.

• Monitor applications, optimize performance, and consistently enhance efficiency and service quality.

• Provide support and maintenance for applications, including incident management, change management, release management, and problem resolution.

• Create and review application procedure manuals, including troubleshooting guides as well as backup and restore plans.

• Automate administrative tasks for regular system administration functions.

• Supply installation and technical support documentation as necessary.

• Assist in structuring, maintaining, and developing the technical knowledge base that supports ICT Operations activities.

• Report on application availability, performance, capacity, and overall utilization as needed.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree plus 10 years of relevant experience.

• At least 6 years of experience as an IT professional in mid to large IT infrastructure settings, including the deployment, support, and maintenance of applications.

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in application administration as an IT professional.

• At least 2 years of experience with micro-services, container orchestration, and container-based technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes.

• A minimum of 2 years of experience in administering and supporting Elasticsearch.

• At least 5 years of experience with enterprise Microsoft or Linux server solutions.

• Strong understanding of the deployment and administration of Elasticsearch clusters.

• Solid knowledge of micro-services, container orchestration, and container-based stacks using Kubernetes, Helm charts, Docker, and Rancher.

• Proficient in configuration management concepts and technologies (e.g., Puppet, Ansible, Chocolatey).

• Good grasp of shell and/or PowerShell scripting.

• Familiarity with ITIL, including incident, change, and release management processes.

• Knowledgeable in DEVOPS practices.

• Understanding of relational databases (e.g., MS SQL, PostgreSQL) and their interaction with applications.

• Familiarity with Kong API Gateway.

• Knowledge of Public or Hybrid Cloud services and solutions (Azure or AWS).

• Relevant certifications in the aforementioned technologies.
