This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Carolina.
• Act as the primary technical liaison between clients and TOPPAN for the Flexibles Division.
• Oversee the development and technical service initiatives at designated accounts and markets.
• Collaborate with the Commercial Team to discover and commercialize flexible packaging prospects.
• Spearhead technical efforts to enhance sales of current structures, innovate new flexible packaging solutions, boost productivity, and elevate product performance.
• Foster and sustain robust technical relationships with customers.
• Convert customer needs into TOPPAN specifications and create manufacturing guidelines.
• Ensure the portfolio aligns with business goals and client requirements.
• Manage projects by establishing success criteria, analyzing data and scientific insights, making technical suggestions, and executing throughout the project lifecycle.
• Design and lead pilot, production, and filling/packing trials.
• Draft trial reports for both internal and external distribution.
• Coordinate internal and external resources to achieve objectives.
• Deliver regular technical service activities.
• Create written and verbal presentations, project plans, updates, and periodic reports.
• Travel to manufacturing facilities, suppliers, clients, conferences, and innovation partners.
• Maintain comprehensive and accurate work records, including documentation of intellectual property.
• Profound knowledge of material science (OPP, PET, PE films, Nylon, paper, and foil laminations).
• Experience in new product development, flexible packaging applications, project management, and customer relationship management.
• Preferred experience in key growth sectors of food packaging, including baked goods, confections, biscuits/cookies, sweet and salty snacks, and granola.
• Bachelor of Science degree, preferably in Engineering, Food Science, Packaging, or a Plastics-related field.
• 2–5 years of experience in flexible packaging product development and manufacturing processes.
• Knowledge of standard flexible converting processes, such as printing (roto/flexo), laminating (adhesive and extrusion), coating, slitting, pouching, and form/fill/seal conversion.
• Easy access to a major airport is required.
