Analytics Engineering Manager, Data Platform – Governance

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Mexico, +3 more countries.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the data roadmap by identifying needs across product, marketing, operations, and finance, prioritizing platform investments, and organizing work sequencing.

• Develop automated monitoring systems for data quality and freshness across source data, pipelines, and reports.

• Identify upstream schema and source changes and manage incidents to resolution.

• Oversee data lineage and impact analysis from production sources through warehouse models to dashboards.

• Create data contracts and incorporate downstream impact assessments into the engineering change review process.

• Manage Lightdash administration, including workspace structure, permissions, certification, rollout, enablement, query performance, and warehouse cost management.

• Extend and govern the semantic layer, ensuring one controlled definition per metric.

• Manage Segment event tracking, including event standards, catalog ownership, property dictionaries, review lifecycle, and drift detection.

• Oversee AI data access and maintain a documented, consistent, and secure warehouse for AI agents.

• Handle data security and privacy, including access controls, PII management, retention in accordance with US state privacy laws, and regular access reviews.

• Develop documentation, ownership models, and review processes for sustainable governance.

• Begin as an individual contributor with the potential to later hire and lead a Lead Analytics Engineer.

• Governance is a passion for you; a genuine interest in maintaining trustworthy and organized data systems.

• Frequent use of AI tools like Claude Code, Copilot, and ChatGPT for quality assurance, automation, anomaly triage, and documentation.

• Proven experience managing others' outputs, allocating time effectively, prioritizing tasks, and continuing to engage hands-on.

• Proficiency in writing SQL, debugging Airflow DAGs, and configuring permissions.

• A product-oriented mindset for translating business needs into prioritized action plans.

• An automation-first approach to routine quality checks.

• Capability to enforce standards among engineers and analysts.

• Hands-on expertise in the warehouse/pipeline layer.

• Significant experience maintaining a BI tool and tracking plan at a company-wide scale.

• Familiarity with Redshift, dbt, Airflow, Fivetran, Segment, Lightdash, Tableau, Metabase, or similar tools.
