Analytics Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil.

📋 Description

• Design and take responsibility for domain models and data marts in various areas such as Risk, Growth, and Engineering—from data ingestion to the metrics utilized by the business.

• Collaborate with business teams to determine what metrics should be tracked and the methodology for doing so.

• Address discrepancies and establish agreed-upon metric definitions.

• Define testing protocols, data contracts, quality monitoring, and freshness monitoring.

• Develop systems to detect issues before they impact decision-making.

• Advance the semantic layer to facilitate reliable consumption by AI agents.

• Lay down the analytical groundwork for dynamic pricing and credit limits.

• Assist in evaluating experiments conducted in production.

• Establish practices and workflows to set up Analytics Engineering at Zippi.

⛳️ Requirements

• Take ownership of modeling and metrics for at least one business domain.

• Experience in making data modeling decisions.

• Capability to uncover requirements, ask pertinent questions, navigate ambiguity, and guide discussions towards a collective understanding.

• Strong skills in data modeling, including grain, sources, entity relationships, transformations, and incremental processing.

• Comprehensive understanding of data flow from source/ingestion to models and end users.

• Familiarity with testing, freshness, observability, and failure modes.

• Advanced proficiency in SQL.

• Competence in a programming or scripting language, such as Python.

• Excellent written communication skills and thorough documentation of decisions.

• Critical use of AI, ensuring careful evaluation of generated content.

• Preferred: experience in credit, finance, fintech, or mid-sized marketplaces.

• Preferred: experience with modeling-layer projects that serve as a single source of truth, seamless data warehouse migrations, or demonstrated reductions in warehouse costs.
