Analytics Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil.

📋 Description

• Design and improve data models utilizing SQL, dbt, and BigQuery.

• Construct and sustain dimensional models, focusing on facts, dimensions, grains, keys, and their interrelations.

• Transition approximately 500 million historical competitor pricing records to BigQuery.

• Establish the data modeling and pipeline architecture for historical pricing information.

• Create a dashboard for analyzing market prices, likely leveraging Power BI.

• Develop and oversee data ingestion and transformation pipelines.

• Manage incremental loads, partitioning, and clustering while considering data warehouse costs and performance.

• Generate and uphold automated tests to ensure data model integrity.

• Engage in code reviews, pull requests, and other software engineering methodologies.

• Collaborate with technology and product teams to comprehend and define business rules prior to implementation.

• Take part in pairing sessions and technical discussions within the team.

• Contribute to the advancement of Valora's data architecture and data engineering methodologies.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proficient in advanced SQL, including window functions, CTEs, aggregations, and the capability to read and debug intricate queries.

• Familiarity with dimensional modeling, focusing on facts, dimensions, grain definition, keys, and their relationships.

• Experience or strong knowledge of software engineering practices relevant to data, including Git, pull requests, code reviews, and testing.

• Understanding of columnar data warehouses, especially concepts related to partitioning, clustering, incremental loads, costs, and performance.

• Proficient in Python for data ingestion and automation tasks.

• Capacity to comprehend and articulate business rules before establishing a technical solution.

• Excellent communication abilities and a collaborative mindset for working in pairs.

• Willingness to receive and share technical insights.

• Experience with dbt.

• Familiarity with BigQuery or other cloud-based columnar data warehouses.

• Knowledge of CDC (Change Data Capture).

• Experience with a semantic layer / Headless BI.

• Proficient in Power BI, DAX, and semantic modeling.

• Experience with Streamlit.

• Familiarity with Docker.

• Experience with GitHub Actions and continuous integration.
