This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Oregon.
• Act as the main point of contact for coordinating GIS, navigation, and route data challenges that affect field operations.
• Oversee incidents from the point of identification to their resolution.
• Collaborate with Digital, boundary system teams, and external vendors to ensure timely resolutions.
• Lead the management of escalations for issues that are critical to operations.
• Communicate the severity, scope, and impact of issues to cross-functional leadership.
• Evaluate business impacts and prioritize resolutions based on operational risks.
• Maintain a sense of urgency and accountability across internal teams and vendors.
• Identify the root causes of issues and implement preventative strategies to minimize recurring incidents.
• Lead the definition and documentation of requirements for GIS-related projects.
• Convert business needs into both functional and technical requirements.
• Offer insights on system design and technical considerations.
• Assist in quality assurance for vendor and internal WM releases.
• Conduct hands-on validation against documented requirements.
• Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for GIS capabilities, workflows, and operational use cases.
• Keep up-to-date with WM boundary systems, including DA, OCSD, and APG, and understand their integration points.
• Provide training on new features, processes, and standards.
• Create and maintain job aids and training materials.
• Advocate for GIS best practices, standards, and scalable solution designs.
• Monitor the GIS technology landscape and emerging capabilities.
• Contribute to strategic planning for future GIS capabilities.
• Assess solution feasibility and operational impacts.
• Provide feedback on solution design and architectural direction.
• Foster alignment among business and technical stakeholders.
• Coordinate and integrate complex enterprise solution projects.
• Manage project deliverables, costs, schedules, and quality.
• Plan projects and guide less experienced staff and resources.
• Resolve issues with internal and external customers, suppliers, and partners.
• Propel projects and the organization towards achieving business results.
• Offer direction, training, coaching, mentoring, and leadership to junior staff.
• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution, or alternatively, a High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution combined with 4 years of relevant work experience.
• At least 5 years of relevant experience in addition to the educational requirements.
• Minimum of 5 years of practical experience directly working with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) technologies, covering spatial data analysis, mapping applications, and geospatial data management (preferred).
• Must possess, or be willing to obtain, a REAL ID or a TSA-approved alternative if required for air travel or access to federal properties.
