Ambulatory Coder III, Professional Billing

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Carolina.

📋 Description

• Abstract and validate CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS codes for inpatient, outpatient, and physician office/clinic environments.

• Abstract/code for designated providers or divisions based on medical record documentation.

• Comply with coding and regulatory guidelines.

• Stay informed about coding and billing updates, as well as payer-specific coding protocols.

• Act as a subject matter expert for the designated specialty.

• Employ relevant coding software and resources to ascertain accurate codes.

• Address billing-related issues with the assigned supervisor/manager and engage in meetings aimed at enhancing overall billing processes.

• Adhere to departmental policies regarding charge corrections.

• Take part in coding educational initiatives, including webinars and in-house training sessions.

• Provide constructive feedback to providers to clarify and address coding issues.

• Resolve assigned pre-billing edits effectively.

• Assist in pinpointing areas that require additional training.

• Mentor and support the training of other coders and new team members.

• Perform additional duties as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent, or a post-high school diploma / highest degree attained.

• A minimum of five (5) years of experience in professional fee coding.

• Certified Professional Coder (CPC) certification.

• Specialty Certification from AAPC that corresponds with the designated specialty.

• Maintain familiarity with governmental and commercial payer guidelines.

• Knowledge of office equipment, including fax machines and copiers.

• Proficient computer skills, including word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.

• Strong data entry capabilities.

• Mathematical proficiency.
