This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York, +3 more states.
• Assess and choose the most suitable model architectures (LLMs, SLMs, or traditional ML) based on mission needs, weighing the tradeoffs among accuracy, latency, and cost.
• Advise clients on "Build vs. Buy vs. Fine-tune" choices, focusing on open-source models (Llama, Mistral, Falcon) that can operate securely within a sovereign data perimeter.
• Create and implement strong data pipelines within CDP to convert "messy" legacy data into formats ready for AI.
• Design and refine Vector Databases and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) architectures to base AI responses on verified agency information.
• Enhance model inference for production settings using quantization, pruning, and hardware acceleration (NVIDIA GPU orchestration).
• Implement LLMOps to oversee model performance, identify hallucination rates, and handle model versioning and drift.
• Work in partnership with the customer’s AI Center of Excellence (CoE) to set up automated guidelines for ethics, bias reduction, and FedRAMP/IL5 compliance.
• Simplify complex technical AI concepts into mission-value presentations for GS-level stakeholders and agency leadership.
• Over 5 years of experience in Data Engineering, Machine Learning, or Software Engineering, with at least 2 years dedicated to Generative AI or Deep Learning.
• Proficient in Python and deep learning frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, Hugging Face).
• Practical experience with Cloudera (CDP), Spark, or comparable big data ecosystems.
• Skilled in orchestration tools such as LangChain, LlamaIndex, or Haystack.
• Experience in developing visual data representations and dashboards (Django, React, or Angular).
• Familiarity with a compiled programming language, preferably one that operates on the JVM (Java, Scala, etc.).
• Demonstrated ability to create ETL/ELT pipelines and engage with both SQL and NoSQL/Vector databases (e.g., Pinecone, Milvus, or PGVector).
• Knowledge of government security frameworks (NIST AI RMF, FedRAMP, SRGs, STIGs).
