AI Resilience Partner

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Develop and take full ownership of a growing portfolio of Focused Research Organizations and other scientific initiatives that promote AI resilience.

• Map the AI resilience landscape to pinpoint bottlenecks and essential capabilities.

• Identify and evaluate ideas for projects and organizations.

• Create funding calls in collaboration with funders.

• Assemble founding teams and recruit initial hires.

• Provide guidance to founders on technical and organizational strategies, fundraising, and startup operations.

• Act as a Director on multiple FRO boards.

• Ensure teams meet their milestones and advise on funding, strategic direction, hiring, firing, and operations.

• Represent Convergent in external engagements and cultivate relationships with philanthropic and public funders.

• Participate in Convergent-wide initiatives like Founder Retreats and Residencies.

⛳️ Requirements

• Detailed understanding of the AI landscape as of 2026, including key players, their projects, and timelines.

• Insight into global vulnerabilities, which are manageable, how to address them through technical solutions, and who is pursuing those concepts.

• Proposals or a credible strategy to generate ideas for large-scale initiatives that significantly enhance the world’s capacity to manage the AI transition.

• Ability to advocate passionately for a perspective on where philanthropic funding should be directed, while also being able to present the counterargument effectively.

• Technical proficiency in cutting-edge AI to differentiate between genuine bottlenecks and trendy issues.

• Extensive network within the industry.

• Background in a startup, venture capital firm, or independently building a project.

• Experience in fundraising, managing a budget, drafting technical roadmaps, and hiring personnel.

• Proven track record of bringing together a team to successfully complete challenging technical projects.

• Familiarity with boards, governance, or nonprofit leadership.

• Strong communication skills and ability to act swiftly.
