AI Engineer/Developer, all genders

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and maintain production-grade AI solutions for clients, overseeing the process from initial concept to stable operation.

• Create appropriate architectures for LLMs, RAG, and agent-based systems.

• Integrate AI technologies into existing web applications, data environments, and business workflows.

• Collaborate with PHP and Java development teams to implement technical concepts.

• Ensure that developed solutions meet quality, security, maintainability, and cost-effectiveness standards.

• Transition solutions into production, providing ongoing technical support, monitoring, and further development.

• Assess new models, frameworks, and technologies for their practical applicability.

• Technically coordinate with consultants, client IT teams, and business departments, translating requirements into actionable implementation.

• Contribute to the development of standards, architectural guidelines, and reusable components.

• Work collaboratively with consultants, client IT teams, business departments, and PHP and Java teams.

⛳️ Requirements

• Several years of experience in software development or AI/ML engineering.

• Practical experience in developing and operating LLM-based applications.

• Capability to work independently on architectural designs and confidently implement technical concepts.

• Strong backend skills with practical knowledge of PHP and/or Java.

• Experience with APIs, databases, and integration of existing systems.

• Understanding of key LLM concepts, including prompting, embeddings, retrieval, tool calling, and evaluation.

• Solid engineering practices, including proficiency with Git, automated testing, Docker, and CI/CD methodologies.

• Experience in observability, troubleshooting, and further developing production applications.

• Awareness of technical trade-offs related to scalability, security, and operational costs.

• Structured, pragmatic, and independent working style.

• Ability to communicate technical concepts effectively.

• Proficiency in German at C1 level.

• Nice to have: Experience with TYPO3, Shopware, Magento, or WordPress.

• Nice to have: Proficiency in Python and relevant backend and AI frameworks, such as FastAPI or LangGraph.

• Nice to have: Experience in AI integration within Java environments, such as Spring AI.

• Nice to have: Familiarity with vector databases and knowledge graphs, such as pgvector, Qdrant, or Neo4j.

• Nice to have: Experience with Kubernetes and self-hosted LLMs and inference stacks, such as vLLM or Ollama.

• Nice to have: Experience with tools for LLM evaluation and observability, such as Langfuse.

• Nice to have: Experience in regulated industries, along with knowledge of data protection and AI governance.

• Nice to have: Excellent English language skills.
