AI Engineer – Temporary Contract

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Mexico.

📋 Description

• Develop context for each migration process, incorporating functional documentation, source schema, and target data model to ensure the LLM produces precise mappings in both directions.

• Create and optimize prompts for suggesting queries, mappings, and transformation rules, minimizing rework during human review stages.

• Evaluate generated SQL and mappings against both data models, confirming the accuracy of entities, fields, relationships, and constraints.

• Address unreliable LLM scenarios, including identifier format changes between systems and data that conflicts with constraints while maintaining those constraints.

• Construct parameterized queries to identify changes on each side since the last synchronization, including non-database sources like spreadsheets and document folders.

• Collaborate with the Senior Python Developer to implement safeguards for LLM-generated SQL and regulated, approved writes to source systems.

• Automatically categorize failed-to-sync records by root cause, including situations where the same data has changed on both sides, and transform treatments into approved rules.

• Streamline migration preparation tasks such as loading inputs, generating artifacts, and comparing versions of artifacts.

• Version control approved artifacts along with their source inputs and document preparation procedures for reuse by other teams.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field is preferred, or equivalent professional experience.

• Over 3 years of software development experience with Python and adherence to software engineering best practices.

• Proficient in SQL, particularly with PostgreSQL, MySQL, and cloud data warehouses such as BigQuery.

• At least 1 year of experience in building LLM applications that are deployed in production environments, moving beyond prototypes.

• Experience in integrating hosted LLM APIs into production settings, including structured output and validation processes.

• Familiarity with prompt engineering, prompt versioning, fallback strategies, and optimization of cost and latency.

• Proven experience in evaluating LLM output using test cases and established evaluation methodologies.

• Ability to understand and modify a partially documented codebase that was not authored by you.

• Demonstrated use of AI tools in day-to-day tasks, with a specific step to verify their outputs.

• Strong independence, meticulous attention to detail, and adaptability to evolving requirements.

• Proficient in English at an advanced level.

• Experience in data migration or ETL projects.

• Familiarity with Vertex AI or Gemini.

• Experience in extracting data from spreadsheets or documents.

• Knowledge of MLOps practices, including CI/CD, observability, and reproducible pipelines.
