This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Africa.
• Transform business challenges and concepts into fully operational AI-driven solutions.
• Design, construct, and implement AI applications, internal tools, AI agents, and intelligent business systems.
• Develop agentic systems capable of reasoning, utilizing tools, accessing business data, and executing multi-step tasks.
• Leverage contemporary AI development and coding tools such as Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or similar to swiftly create and refine solutions.
• Assess AI models, tools, frameworks, and platforms to select the most suitable technology for each specific use case.
• Create custom applications and integrations utilizing LLMs, APIs, and traditional software development practices.
• Collaborate with agentic AI frameworks and technologies like LangChain, LangGraph, CrewAI, AutoGen, MCP, or comparable systems.
• Integrate AI systems with CRMs, databases, messaging platforms, document-generation tools, and other internal business systems.
• Develop workflow automations using tools such as n8n when applicable.
• Deploy, test, monitor, debug, and continuously enhance AI solutions following their launch.
• Take into account security, reliability, scalability, AI usage costs, and ROI during the solution design process.
• Engage directly with leadership and business stakeholders to identify issues, propose technical solutions, and independently execute builds.
• Stay informed about emerging AI technologies and investigate tools that deliver practical business value.
• Availability to work Monday–Friday, 14:30–23:00 South African time, subject to daylight savings adjustments.
• Willingness to work on South African public holidays, with compensation provided in line with the BCEA.
• Must reside in South Africa.
• Have a fixed fiber line with at least 25 Mbps upload and download speeds, along with wired Ethernet capability.
• Ensure reliable backup power for load shedding or power outages.
• 3–5+ years of professional software engineering, application development, or closely related technical experience.
• Hands-on experience in independently building and deploying AI-powered applications or systems beyond conventional workflow automation.
• Proven experience in constructing AI agents or agentic systems using tools, APIs, business data, or external systems for multi-step tasks.
• Familiarity with modern AI development/coding tools such as Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or similar.
• Experience with LLMs such as Claude, OpenAI/GPT, Gemini, or similar technologies.
• Knowledge of agentic frameworks or technologies such as LangChain, LangGraph, AutoGen, CrewAI, and MCP, or equivalent.
• Strong software development skills in Python and/or JavaScript/TypeScript/Node.js.
• Extensive experience in building and integrating REST APIs and third-party systems.
• Proficient with Docker, Git/GitHub, and modern application deployment methodologies.
• Ability to analyze business problems, determine technical strategies, and guide solutions from concept to deployment.
• Strong debugging and analytical skills for troubleshooting non-deterministic AI systems.
• Excellent communication skills to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Genuine enthusiasm for emerging AI technologies, with evidence of experimentation and development of new AI tools.
• Advantageous: experience with RAG solutions, MCP and tool/function calling, full-stack AI applications, AWS/Azure/Google Cloud Platform, human-in-the-loop approval processes, LLM evaluation, and independently managing technical solutions.
• Compensation for working on South African public holidays according to the BCEA.
