AI Engineer, Forward Deployed – Copilot, Azure AI Foundry

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and deliver AI production solutions utilizing Microsoft 365 Copilot, Copilot Studio, and Azure AI Foundry.

• Create declarative agents, connectors for Copilot, plugins, agents for Copilot Studio, topics, actions, and autonomous agents.

• Establish connections between Copilot and SharePoint, Teams, Microsoft Graph, Dataverse, and various line-of-business systems.

• Compose and refine prompts, instructions, and configurations for agents based on user feedback and testing results.

• Develop custom agents and AI applications within Azure AI Foundry.

• Choose, deploy, and set up models from the Foundry model catalog.

• Execute agentic workflows featuring tool calling, multi-step orchestration, and human-in-the-loop mechanisms.

• Merge AI solutions with enterprise systems via APIs, Azure Functions, Power Automate, and Logic Apps.

• Construct comprehensive RAG pipelines that encompass ingestion, chunking, embedding, vector and hybrid search, and grounding.

• Utilize Azure AI Search and Azure AI Document Intelligence to index and extract insights from client content.

• Collaborate with data engineers to link solutions to Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, and other enterprise data platforms.

• Develop evaluation sets and test harnesses to assess answer quality, groundedness, hallucination rates, safety, latency, and cost.

• Implement logging, monitoring, and tracing for the agents and models in deployment.

• Enforce security, identity, and governance controls using Microsoft Entra ID, Microsoft Purview, and Azure AI Content Safety.

• Employ version control, CI/CD practices, and code review protocols for AI solution code and configuration.

• Collect requirements, facilitate working sessions, demonstrate progress, and manage client expectations.

• Convert business challenges into well-defined AI use cases with measurable success criteria.

• Train client users and administrators, supporting adoption post-launch.

• Contribute reusable patterns, accelerators, and documentation to Collectiv's AI initiatives.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).

• Minimum of 4 years of experience in software engineering, data engineering, or development within Microsoft 365 and Power Platform.

• At least 1 year of practical experience in constructing and deploying generative AI or LLM-powered solutions in production or client settings.

• Practical knowledge of Microsoft 365 Copilot extensibility and Copilot Studio.

• Proficient in Azure AI Foundry or Azure OpenAI.

• Experience in developing RAG solutions using Azure AI Search.

• Strong skills in Python or C#.

• Familiarity with Azure services (storage, compute, identity, networking).

• Capability to work independently in a client-facing consulting capacity.

• US citizenship is required based on the client's contract stipulations.

• Must be physically present in the United States throughout the duration of the engagement.

• Preferred: Experience with Microsoft Agent Framework, Semantic Kernel, or AutoGen.

• Preferred: Familiarity with Power Platform, Dataverse, and Power Automate.

• Preferred: Experience with Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, or Power BI.

• Preferred: Knowledge of LLMOps practices including evaluation frameworks, prompt management, and model monitoring.

• Preferred: Awareness of security, privacy, and compliance factors for AI in regulated sectors.

• Preferred: Consulting experience across various clients or industries.

• Preferred: Relevant certifications such as Azure AI Engineer Associate, Copilot Studio or Power Platform certifications, or Fabric (DP-600, DP-700).
