AI Engineer, Forward Deployed

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and deliver production AI solutions utilizing Anthropic’s Claude platform.

• Create agents, virtual assistants, knowledge search interfaces, and agentic workflows leveraging Claude APIs and SDKs.

• Construct and launch MCP servers that connect Claude to enterprise systems such as Microsoft Fabric, Power BI, SharePoint, CRM, and ERP platforms.

• Implement Claude via the Anthropic API, Microsoft Foundry, Amazon Bedrock, or Google Vertex AI.

• Compose and refine system prompts, tool definitions, and Agent Skills.

• Configure and deploy Claude for Enterprise, including setting up connectors, Projects, Skills, and administrative controls.

• Assist Client engineering teams in adopting Claude Code with the necessary workflows, permissions, and safeguards.

• Develop reusable Skills, plugins, and prompt libraries.

• Construct end-to-end RAG pipelines that encompass ingestion, chunking, embedding, vector and hybrid search, and grounding.

• Link solutions to Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, and other enterprise data platforms.

• Integrate Claude solutions using APIs, Azure Functions, and event-driven architectures.

• Create evaluation sets and test harnesses to assess quality, groundedness, hallucination rates, safety, latency, and cost.

• Implement logging, monitoring, tracing, and cost management controls.

• Apply security, identity, and data governance measures.

• Utilize version control, CI/CD, and code review best practices.

• Gather requirements, conduct working sessions, demonstrate progress, and manage Client expectations.

• Convert business challenges into well-defined AI use cases with clear success metrics.

• Train Client users and engineers and provide support for adoption post go-live.

• Contribute reusable patterns, accelerators, and documentation to Collectiv’s AI practice.

• Collaborate within a Collectiv delivery team alongside a project lead, architects, and data engineers.

⛳️ Requirements

• US citizenship is required as per the client’s contract terms.

• Must be physically located in the United States throughout the engagement.

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

• A minimum of 4 years of experience in software engineering, data engineering, or analytics engineering.

• At least 1 year of practical experience in building and deploying generative AI or LLM-powered solutions in production or Client environments.

• Proficient experience with the Claude API, including tool utilization.

• Experience in building or deploying MCP servers.

• Practical experience with Claude Code or the Claude Agent SDK.

• Strong skills in Python or TypeScript.

• Familiarity with building RAG solutions, including vector search and document ingestion.

• Experience working in at least one major cloud environment; Azure is preferred, while AWS or Google Cloud is also valued.

• Ability to work independently in a Client-facing consulting role.
