Actuary – Commercial Lines

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Jersey.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with underwriters to assess and price intricate, large-account casualty risks independently.

• Formulate pricing recommendations by applying actuarial judgment.

• Create, sustain, and improve loss rating models and analytical instruments.

• Oversee overall pricing levels for accounts that do not require actuarial referral.

• Integrate cutting-edge technologies, data capabilities, and AI-driven methods into pricing tools and workflows.

• Work alongside the broader actuarial team to achieve shared goals and foster continuous enhancement.

• Assist in pricing for Workers Compensation, Commercial Auto, General Liability, and Umbrella lines.

⛳️ Requirements

• ACAS or FCAS designation is required.

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.

• Minimum of 8 years of actuarial pricing experience in the Commercial P&C sector.

• Experience in pricing large-account, loss-sensitive casualty programs, ideally including large deductible business across Workers Compensation, General Liability, and Commercial Auto.

• Strong actuarial judgment with the ability to assess competing methodologies, handle uncertainty, and provide practical recommendations.

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, along with a keen intellectual curiosity and adaptability.

• Capable of working both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, business-oriented environment.

• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the capability to convey technical concepts to non-technical audiences.

• Strong organizational skills, with the capacity to manage competing priorities and adhere to deadlines.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and SQL.
