Actuary

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +5 more states.

📋 Description

• Assist in the design, execution, administration, modification, and cessation of Defined Benefit and Cash Balance retirement plans.

• Conduct and evaluate actuarial valuations, compliance assessments, and funding calculations, ensuring precision and adherence to regulations.

• Oversee a limited client portfolio while providing technical guidance and reviewing actuarial work performed by colleagues.

• Analyze retirement plan provisions and relevant regulations to offer precise advice to clients and internal stakeholders.

• Clearly convey intricate actuarial concepts and retirement plan details to clients, advisors, and internal partners.

• Assess actuarial reports, funding suggestions, and accompanying documentation for accuracy and thoroughness.

• Ensure alignment with company policies, professional standards, and applicable regulatory requirements.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, or a related discipline.

• 5-10 years of experience in actuarial roles supporting qualified retirement plans.

• In-depth knowledge of Defined Benefit and Cash Balance retirement plan design, funding, and administration.

• One or more of the following professional designations is required: Enrolled Actuary (EA), Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA), Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA), Member of the American Academy of Actuaries (MAAA), Member of the Society of Enrolled Actuaries (MSEA), or Fellow of the Society of Enrolled Actuaries (FSEA).

• Comprehensive understanding of IRS regulations, ERISA requirements, Pension Protection Act provisions, and relevant actuarial standards of practice.

• Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving abilities with outstanding attention to detail.

• Proven capability to execute and review actuarial valuations and funding calculations.

• Excellent research skills with the ability to interpret regulatory guidance and apply complex technical concepts effectively.

• Capacity to communicate highly technical information to clients with varying levels of actuarial knowledge.

• Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities and deadlines.

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.

• Ability to work autonomously while effectively collaborating across departments.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
